The TMMi® Professional certification confirms your knowledge of the Test Maturity Model integration (TMMi), the leading international model for test process improvement. The certification is based on TMMi model version 2.0, released by the TMMi Foundation in 2026, and the updated TMMi Professional syllabus. TMMi V2.0 is a major update of the model. It aligns TMMi with current industry practices, including Agile and DevOps ways of working, and adds new guidance on the role of Artificial Intelligence in testing. The model has also been made leaner and easier to use, with around 30% fewer pages than the previous release. With the TMMi Professional certification, you demonstrate that you understand the principles, structure, and application of the TMMi model. You will be able to support and contribute to test improvement initiatives in your organization, project, or team.

Version note: This exam is based on TMMi model V2.0 (syllabus V2.3, 2026). The previous TMMi Professional exam, based on TMMi release 1.3, is still available in our shop. Candidates are encouraged to choose the V2.0 exam to align with the current version of the model.
What is new in TMMi V2.0?
The TMMi Professional exam now reflects the updated model. Key changes include:
- Agile and DevOps integration. New examples, work products, and sub-practices support Agile and DevOps ways of working throughout all maturity levels and process areas.
- Artificial Intelligence and the PPT framework. The model now explains the role of AI and test automation in test process improvement, using the People, Process and Technology (PPT) framework. It includes detailed guidance on where AI can support the TMMi process areas.
- A leaner, simpler model. Generic Goals and Generic Practices have been removed as separate components. Institutionalization is now covered by the new process area "Implementation and Habit" at level 2 and the renamed process area "Test Process and Integration" at level 3.
- Business value focus. Every process area now includes a value statement that explains the improvement benefits for stakeholders.
- Quality engineering mapping. The model shows how TMMi applies in a quality engineering context, including shift-left practices such as peer reviews and BDD.
- Updated CMMI alignment. The mapping between TMMi and CMMI has been fully updated to reflect CMMI V3.0.
What will you learn?
The TMMi Professional syllabus V2.3 covers eight knowledge areas:
- Introduction to the TMMi model: business reasons for test improvement, costs and benefits, scope, and the PPT framework
- TMMi maturity levels: the five maturity levels and their process areas, including the revised description of Level 1
- Structure of the TMMi: model components, required, expected, and informative components, institutionalization, and the relationship with CMMI
- The TMMi model: process areas, goals, and practices of maturity levels 2 to 5
- TMMi in Agile and DevOps contexts: how to interpret and apply the model in Agile and DevOps environments
- Artificial Intelligence: testing AI-based systems with TMMi, and using AI and Gen-AI to support the TMMi process areas
- TMMi assessments: informal and formal assessments, the assessment process, and component rating
- Implementing TMMi: the phases of the improvement framework and why TMMi should not be used as a checklist
