iSAQB® Software Architecture – Foundation Level (CPSA-F)

As a software architect, you are responsible for the components and interaction within a system. The internationally recognised iSAQB® Certified Professional for Software Architecture - Foundation Level certification attests to your comprehensive knowledge in the field of software architecture.

How do I obtain the iSAQB® certification?

To be certified you must pass the iSAQB® Software Architecture - Foundation Level exam.

You can prepare for the iSAQB® Software Architecture - Foundation Level exam by attending a training course with a recognised iSAQB® training provider; participants will have relevant content and topics clearly explained and taught to them.

The syllabus covers the basics of software architecture:

  • Role and tasks of software architects
  • Architecture requirements, architecture goals
  • Non-functional requirements and quality goals
  • Components/building blocks and their interfaces and dependencies between them
  • Cross-cutting concerns and technical concepts
  • Documentation and communication of architectures

You can test your knowledge without obligation and free of charge before taking the exam by our online mock exam.

What are the entry requirements?

Participants should have the following knowledge and/or experience:

  • At least 18 months of practical experience in software development, acquired by programming various projects or systems outside of education.
  • Knowledge of and practical experience in at least one higher programming language.
  • Basics of modelling and abstraction.
  • Basics of UML (class, package, component and sequence diagrams) and their relation to source code.
  • Practical experience in technical documentation, especially in the documentation of source code, system designs or technical concepts.

Helpful for the understanding of some concepts are also:

  • Knowledge of object orientation
  • Practical experience in at least one object-oriented programming language
  • Practical experience in the design and implementation of distributed applications, such as client/server systems or web applications.
