The use of software/applications is becoming increasingly important for businesses. When software is not effective because it does not do what the user expects (effectiveness); when software takes too many steps or produces results too slowly (efficiency); when the customer gets the expected result but is not satisfied with the software (satisfaction), we talk about usability problems (usability problems).

As the use of software plays an increasingly important role, usability is rightly receiving more and more attention. Usability Testing is an important aspect when thinking about and determining the usability of a software application.

In this two-day ISTQB® Certified Tester – Usability Testing training course, you will be taught the fundamentals of usability testing, looking at:

• usability as the direct interaction between the user and the system;
• user experience, which includes the perceived service before and after using the system;
• accessibility, where the focus is on the use of the system by users with (for example visual or auditory) limitations.

The training covers, among other things:

• the context in which usability testing should be placed (human-centred design)
• the use of the usability evaluation techniques ‘usability reviews’, ‘usability testing’ and ‘user surveys
• the choice of the various techniques

A number of mock exams will help the participant prepare for the exam. At the end of the training, all participants will receive a voucher, which can be used to schedule an online exam. This will be an English multiple choice exam.

Exam

Prerequisite for obtaining the certificate is the ISTQB® Foundation certificate.
Possession of the ISTQB® Foundation certification is required to take the exam.
